For the most part, 2023 was a rough year for many people including myself. The usual New Year’s resolutions didn’t seem interesting or necessary either. Sixteen days into 2024 and I realize that only God’s strength has brought me this far. As we journey through this year, I encourage you to start giving praise to God every day.
Giving Praise To God
“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with Thanksgiving.” – Psalm 69:30 KJV
Lately, Psalm 69:30 has been resonating within my soul. David was going through some hard times throughout Psalm 69 and yet he found praise! As spiritual warfare tries to wear us out, we must remember our voice needs to give praise to God daily.
Having a grateful heart and giving praise positions us to push through the obstacles, delays and confusion. Plus, as we praise Him, we are strengthening our connection to God! We serve a great God!
Whether you have a favorite worship song to sing or prefer to praise solo with your words, there’s no “right way” on how to give God praise. I used to worry if my praise to God was acceptable, but I’ve let go of that worry. My connection to Him is my priority!
There have been many days where I have sung praises to the Lord wherever I was. When things look bleak or going downhill, I’ll lift my hands to sing praises to the Lord in whatever quiet place I can find. I’ll thank Him for His faithfulness, guiding my steps and sharing my confidence that He will bring me out of this, etc.
Even if you’re not in a rough season, a habit of thanksgiving and praise is a beautiful addition to any Christian morning routine. Resetting our focus on God and having our strength renewed can bring a sense of peace needed on a daily basis.
“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”
Psalm 22:3 KJV
If we do only one thing this year, let’s allow praise and worship to be part of our daily life. A 5-minute praise break of gratitude at home is just as impactful as 1-hour worship at church. Vocalize your praise for Him to inhabit wherever you are because God is always with us.
May God continue to guide your steps and be your strength!
