From fair-weather friends to toxic environments, our spiritual energy is constantly at risk of being depleted. We can either mindlessly allow it to happen or make a conscious choice in how we use our energy. In today’s post, we’re talking about the importance of protecting your spiritual energy.
Protecting Your Spiritual Energy and Peace
Signs from God
God, in His grace, places signals in our path to alert us when we are about to encounter a possible toxic energy exchange—also known as a trap.
You may get a gut check or a strong inner unction that causes you to pause. The decision we make at this moment has a direct impact on whether our energy will be depleted or manipulated. The key is to listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice and avoid walking into situations that drain us unnecessarily.
The Bible gives us many examples of God warning His people before danger struck. In Acts 27, Paul received a divine warning about an impending storm, but his advice was ignored, leading to shipwreck. Like Paul, we often receive warnings, but it’s up to us to heed them.
In my recent video, I share an experience where I received an unction—a strong gut check—before an event.

Be Aware of Your Own Light
Of course, you are already aware of energy vampires and other bad actors on a mission to derail you. However, you must also be aware of who you are in Christ.
Your light bears empathy, compassion, and love for others. Your willingness to help and go the extra mile is a gift, but it can also leave you struggling to recover if you give too much without replenishing yourself.
So, be careful you don’t engage too often with those who drain your energy or overburden you.
Jesus Himself often withdrew to quiet places to pray and recharge (Luke 5:16). Likewise, we need to be mindful of when and how we engage with people who might deplete our energy. Ask yourself: Have I given so much to others that I feel completely drained? Am I replenishing myself spiritually?
Lean on the Lord
As we step into a new season, setting aside quiet time with the Lord should be a high priority. Focusing our minds on Him and shielding ourselves from negative outside influences will be key to our next breakthrough.
Make a habit of writing down the insights that God sends you or any warnings He provides. Keeping a prayer journal that can help you track patterns, recognize God’s nudges, and stay mindful of the ways He is guiding you.
